Life is not measured by the breaths we take but the moments that take our breath away

We are creating this Blog to write about the Grand Adventure.  The Grand Adventure is …… a bicycle trip around the world.  Despite the picture above we are not crazy people. We were in our mid-50s and an average married couple, without children, when we started this crazy adventure.

Ralf has spent the majority of his working life driving18 wheelers – yes he was a transport driver, but prefers two wheels to 18.

Jacky has spent the majority of my working life in administration and love planning our adventures.

We enjoy travelling and cycling and decided that we should merge the two things we enjoy most and cycle around the world.

The Grand Adventure was a twenty-two month adventure starting in 2013. We have continued to travel on our bikes adding two more Adventures: South East Asia (2016) and Europe (2018).  A slight break in our overseas adventures occurred due to Covid (2020/2021). We stayed local and only did short one week trips. In 2024 we are back on the road. Our most recent adventure was in Taiwan (2024).
